Does the Windows 7 Convenience Rollup Package let you choose which updates to install?

I installed the package but a list of about 100 updates also showed up. So I’m not sure if these other updates are part of the package or if something went wrong & the package never got installed. IOW did the normal update process take over & list all these updates?

For example the updates for both IE8 and IE11 were listed. Why would Windows want to update to IE8 when it’s just going to be updated again to IE11? I just selected IE11 and all worked out OK.

FWIW the Control Panel > updates does show KB3125574 as being installed. Yet there also were about 20 NET Framework updates listed. I’d think a lot of these would have been part of the package.

I manually installed NET Framework 4.6.2 and almost all the other NF updates disappeared from the update list.

Does it appear the Convenience Rollup Package really got installed? If so, how do you delete individual updates?

NO!

The convenience rollup for March for Win 7 is KB4012215. It weighs in at 89MB for the 32 bit and 145.5MB for the 64 bit.

how do you delete individual updates?
You don't. You either install the entire bundle or you don't install it.

If you prefer something smaller and with only Security updates, you install KB4012212. It weighs in at 18.8MB for 32 bit and 33.2MB for 64bit. From what I can determine from the Tech notes, this bundle has 6 critical and 6 important updates in it.

I'm still trying to determine if the IE update is included. I think that KB4012204 is an update for IE 9 which is on Vista. Vista is not receiving bundled updates so that's why this IE update for a version that is only supported on Vista is a standalone.

All other Windows versions must be running IE 11.

I've read several articles that you should delete some telemetry updates. It appears that cannot be done with the Rollup Pkg.

What about using WSUS? I'm under the impression that allows individual selection of what you want to install. What are the thoughts about using WSUS?
