Due to the amount of errors, I believe your best option is to perform a Repair Installation of the OS.

Vista is outdated and no longer supported. Have you considered switching to Windows 10?

- but I have many programs that may not run on W10... so prefer not too for now.

Thanks for the help... I have attached the Gsmartcontrol report on one of the drives - the boot drive had no errors.
Not sure if this helps at all - or are we still looking at a reinstall?

Thanks softwaremaniac.... you did note that the errors were NOT on the boot drive?
Would a reinstall help since re-installation is to the boot drive...? Am I missing something?

Your installation is too corrupt to be completely fixed. The bad drive needs to be replaced regardless.
