I am having some issues with windows updates. I try to install the updates and they continuously fail. I was referred to do a sfc scan and i got.

C:\windows\cbs\cbs.log

but it was unable to fix it. so i copy and pasted the cbs log and put it in a zipped folder if someone would be willing to take a look at it.

The entire reason that this whole problem arose was because I will get random bsod's. One of my ram sticks is bad so I acknowledge that as an issue. I wanted to check my HD just to make sure that nothing is wrong with it. I have a seagate so I went to the seagate website to download there HD scanner.

This arises the current update problem. I can not use the HD scanner without Windows .NET 4. Which will not download because it says the system store file is corrupted.

I hope this isnt too confusing. Thank you in advance.

It's getting late here, but I'll post a fix as soon as possible tomorrow! In the mean time, can you download and install the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT):

Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2013] from Official Microsoft Download Center

Save it to a convenient location as we may well need it again and it's quite a large file. When it finishes installing, which can take several hours to complete on badly affected computers, post the log please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Tom

hey tom, I did what you said. I attempted to download the readiness tool, but even with the standalone installer. A message popped up and said that it was unable to download the Fix It program.

Hi Astroboy,

Could you try downloading it again, once more, please? I've never heard of this happening before so I'm hoping it was caused by your connection dropping out or something.

Tom

I did try it again. When i download the readiness tool. It attempts to download/update the HotFix Tool. It ends up stopping and says that it was unable to be installed. Weird, I know, I have no clue what the reason for this is.
