Knowing what I know now at the beginning of this I probably should have just wiped and reloaded the os. Everything seems fine except for the windows updates and antivirus. Of course the windows updates are working great and as expected. Just have to troubleshoot the av install. Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve Click to expand... That's really good news in a way - at least the problem isn't getting any worse and you've repaired the problem. As for the AV install, I would suggest trying a full uninstall using the special removal tool for whichever brand it is. It may be on this list: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase then another install. If that doesn't do it, please let me know the AV software in question and the error message you receive. It could actually be a Windows Installer corruption, in which case you are likely to need our help to fix it as the repair is usually even more complicated than what we've just done to repair your Windows Update Good luck!
