Hi everyone! Having some trouble trying to update my system to windows 10, I ran the SFCfix and it is telling me there is 1 file that is corrupt.

CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..undthemes-landscape_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_7a83a914edc3de49\Windows Balloon.wav

I just got this computer and its quite old, I haven't done anything regarding computers in 8 years or more so I'm sort of out of touch with how to fix this issue, been trying for 3 days now.

The update that will not install is: 2019-09 Security Monthly Quality Rollup For Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4516065). Before this, there were about 5 or 6 that wouldn't install, but I finally figured those out by by looking on multiple forums from individuals having similar issues, only one person had an almost identical issue but I wanted to post here in case my route would be slightly different to get past this problem. Heard you all are the best, so here I am!

I'll throw the SFCfix.txt into a zip and attach it.(not sure if that's the way things work these days)

Thanks in advance!

Trying to update KB4534310 -- getting error Code 80073701

When I try to install windows 10 via the tool from the microsoft website, it'll get to 15% complete then reverts back.

I'm clueless, attached an image of my updates thus far:

Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
