Hello,
I've been directed by the folks on windows seven forums to bring my issue over here. This is the issue that I originally had:

I noticed a few weeks back that the audio wasn't working as well as the screen brightness was very low but did not have a chance to look into. This week I attempted to "fix" that issue but seems to be due to the power service not starting. I also encountered a BSOD when right clicking on the power option in the control panel.

I received this error when attempting to start the power service in the services tool:
Power service - Windows could not start the Power services on Local Computer.

Error 127: The specified procedure could not be found.

I did see this post which seems to be related to my issue:

Right-click Windows 7 explorer crash, 'Power' & audio service issue
Right-click Windows 7 explorer crash, 'Power' & audio service issue

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

link to windows 7 forums:

The issue that brought me here was related to a couple of windows updates that have not installed correctly which scannow could not fix.

Here's the information from the windows posting instructions I ran yesterday.

sfc /scannow - Output: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Ran the System Update Readiness tool and it completed

windows6.1-kb947821-v34-x64_cc4a605bcda8288af75983312e8fb25367e98fdd.msu

So currently, i still have no audio and the power service can't be started.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything.
Thanks in advance.

There doesn't appear to be any problems highlighted in your CBS log and I presume that your SURT log was clear too?

I also encountered a BSOD when right clicking on the power option in the control panel.
Could you please provide the dump file(s) from your latest crash? They should be in the following directory:

Rich (BB code):
%systemroot%\Minidump

Unfortunately, the dump file was "cleaned up"
Was that with a disk cleanup tool like CCleaner? If so, there should be option to prevent from removing dump files.

Where can I locate the SURT file?
It should be available in the directory:

Rich (BB code):
%systemroot%\Logs\SURT

If there is multiple files, then please upload all of them.

Apologises, it should be in the CBS folder as CheckSUR.log, so the following:

Rich (BB code):
%systemroot%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Thanks, your SURT and CBS log both appear to be okay. What were the updates you were trying to install?

I don't know the specific update since someone else was performing the updates but it was on 2/20/22 and here's the list he installed. Not sure if any of these would be the cause or not but that's all i have to go on.
Thanks again.

If they're already installed then they won't be the issue. I would suggest checking for any available updates and then trying to install any offered to you.

Sorry for the delay but I just received these messages on the computer this morning. I'm guessing the system crashed and attempted restart. Should I continue with restore or is there something else that can be done? My only other option would be to contact Geek Squad to rectify. This is a windows 7 but when I bought they provided the windows 10 OS discs.

Thanks

The restore message might have timed out since I was told the login prompt was now being shown. After logging in though it appears the machine crashed. Where can I locate the crash logs to send to you?

It depends, do by crashed, you mean a BSOD or something else? The dump files for a BSOD can be found in:

Rich (BB code):
%systemroot%\Minidumps

I was able to get to grab these files today. There were 7 files in Minidump over a 2 day period and attached the latest. I also ran sfc without any issues. I see many errors in the event log and have attempted to export and hopefully you can view. 2 of note are pictured. One is Bugcheck but I didn't find the log file in the event and the other is related to svchost.exe from today and was repeatedly being displayed every second. I performed system restore but unfortunately that old restore point was from 4/4/22 where issue was still occurring. Hopefully this will provide a clue as to what could be happening.

Regards.
