Hi all,

i not sure whether this is the correct section or not but this is my problem, hope u guys can help. So my initial problem is that, my fujitsu external hardisk appear as local disk whereby i cant excess it, so i tried to uninstall it, but after uninstalling it, it doesnt appear at all, so i tried to search some solution and most of the solution point me to the disk management and chg the alphabet but the issue is that, it doesnt even appear in there, so is there any solution ?

i dont really care about the content so i dont mind reformatting it but how do i do that if i cant detect my external hardisk

Would be nice if knew something about your computer. At this point, we don't even know if PC, notebook, tablet or whatever.

Sadly, these problems are often caused by the interface between the computer and the enclosure. This could be the USB to SATA or PATA interface in the enclosure, or a problem with the USB interface on the computer side.

When you connect the device do you see (icon in tray) or hear (Windows sound) a USB connection being made? You may need to disconnect and totally shutdown all power (unplug computer and drive from all - remove notebook battery) for a few seconds then try again.

Also, look in device manager for any yellow or red error indications.

You could also try this drive on another computer and see what happens.

ok now i can detect but the old issue is back, my external hdd appears as local disk and i cant access it, i tried on laptop/pc still same :)

Not sure why you think "local disk" is bad. A local disk means it is direct connected to the computer. If not local, it would be a networked drive.

So now that it appears, see if you can assign a drive letter to it.

Also , did you disable USB suspend ? This will make your USB drive not work at all, I just had this issue and I fixed it myself. EVEN if it works , later on your WINDOWS will RANDOMLY make your drive no longer appear unless you keep this setting.

Control Panel> Power Options> scroll down to USB and then follow this screencap
