after windows update issues and having both Tom and Richard tell me the only option was a fresh install I finally got around to starting it.

Bad idea. I keep getting errors when expanding files. same error 0x80070570.

I'm currently redownloading the iso and going to try a bootable USB instead of a dvd.

I've tried removing one or the other stick of ram, same problem.

Changed from AHCI to RAID to IDE, same issue.

Deleted all partitions on drive using Partition Wizard Mini bootable cd. recreated a primary partition in NTFS format, still the same problem.

Some help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, try a new copy of the ISO. The error code you gave:

Code:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

C:\Users\Stephen>err 0x80070570
# as an HRESULT: Severity: FAILURE (1), Facility: 0x7, Code 0x570

will give it a shot... too bad digital rivers download speeds are slow.. I'll be waiting all day

Update,

Redownloaded iso. Created bootable usb. Started the install. It went to completion. Reboot. black screen blinking cursor.

What am I doing wrong. My boot sequence in the bios is currently, The comp hard drive, the usb hard drive, dvd, network.

Further update,

This last time I ran the install it went through the first sequence fine, rebooted and started up the main installation screen again. So it's in a continual loop now constantly booting off of the usb windows set-up. When I interrupt the boot sequence and choose the hard drive I get the black screen blinking cursor again.

I unplugged all usb devices except for the USB with the windows iso on it and my keyboard.

So reformatting for the fourth time, first time using a command prompt from a windows repair screen appears to have done it. Setup is running better as I type. Will update with any problems. Yes I already ran all the hdd and memory tests to ensure it's not hardware related. Using onboard graphics too and a minimal amount of ram to ensure no further problems.
