Hello.

I am unable to upgrade from Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 10 1909. I've downloaded the Windows 10 upgrade tool from the following: Download Windows 10.

I'm able to get through the process to the space verification step where I receive the following error: "We can't tell if your PC has enough space to continue installing Windows 10. Try restarting setup." I have approx. 57.7 GB free on my SSD. I've also tried increasing the size of my system partition from 100MB to 500MB (as I saw suggested elsewhere), but I still receive the same error.

Below is the SFCFix log. The CBS log was also too large to upload, so here's a link: CBS.zip

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi. . .

Try deleting the page file - (just do deletion and leave it off for now) - Deletion + Reallocation of the Page File (Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista)

Delete the hibernation file - (disable hibernation) - Enable or Disable Hibernation

Check to make sure that c:\hiberfil.sys (the actual hibernation file) is not present.

The hibernation file is a System, Hidden file, so be sure that viewing hidden files is turned ON for Windows Explorer or do the following - use the Admin Command Prompt to check for the hibernation file -

Open an Elevated Admin Command (CMD) Prompt - Open an Elevated Administrative Command Prompt (CMD) - Windows 10

Paste the following into the CMD box/screen -

Rich (BB code):
dir /a c:\h*.sys

The output for that command from my system -
Rich (BB code):
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>dir /a c:\h*.sys
Volume in drive C is Windows 8.1 x64
Volume Serial Number is C8D9-F1EF

Directory of c:\

12/18/2019 05:36 PM 10,250,895,360 hiberfil.sys
               1 File(s) 10,250,895,360 bytes
               0 Dir(s) 51,765,731,328 bytes free

C:\Windows\system32>

As you can see, I have a 10.25 GB hibernation file. The space used by the hibernation file for Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 is equal to 75% of the total installed physical RAM.

Reduce your System Restore points and space - Windows System Restore - Configure Restore Point Space (Windows 10,8.1, 8, 7 & Vista)

After doing these items, try the upgrade again.

Regards. . .

I disabled the page file (could not find one to delete), disabled hibernation (could not find a file to delete), and system restore was not turned on. I did restart after disabling the page and hibernation files, but unfortunately I'm still receiving the same error.

Hi!

Please do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.
