[SOLVED] Cannot install KB5021255 on Win 11 due to error 0x8007025d. DISM and sfc /scannow stop with error

Hi everyone,
It is almost a month passed since I'm trying to install Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5021255). I got error during installation Install error - 0x8007025d. I've read some articles that recommended to run check disk utility and check Windows file completeness and consistency by DISM and sfc. But both these utilities are stopped in the middle with an error:
sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 23% complete.
Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I've looked into logs and found some messages related to one of dll - WFSR.dll
CSI 0000009a (F) c0000242 [Error,Facility=(system),Code=578 (0x0242)] #9293733# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation:irectFileSystemProvider::SysReadFile(h = 7204 ('\Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-f..client-applications_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.22621.755_none_db090410f18b6eb6\WFSR.dll'), evt = 0, apcr = NULL, apcc = NULL, iosb = @0x199747baa0, data = {l:0 b:}, byteoffset = 0, key = (null))

I was trying to replace this file, to do so I took ownership of this folder but cannot get full access to the folder and change the file.

I would be very appreciate for any advice or suggestion. All required files are attached

Step 1. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.

• Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
• Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
• Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

• SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
• Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
• Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Dear Maxstar, Thank you very-very much for your help! Looks like DISM completed without error! The requested logfile is attached.

Now I see another error during Windows update - 0x800f0988:
2023-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022303)
Install error - 0x800f0988
But I think it is another story. Will try to resolve by myself

Please find CBS log prepared according to Forum Posting Instructions. The file it too big and I can't attach it. I put it into Google drive.

Both scans (sfc and DISM) were completed without error. I've tried several times reset Windows Update services with renaming C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder but still no success - every time I get Install error - 0x800f0988. The installation looks like fully completed, but them error message appears

Could you please provide a copy of the COMPONENTS hive.

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.

• Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
• Please copy this file to your desktop.
• Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
• Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
• If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

The Windows update still unsuccessful with the same error 0x800f0988.
