OK I have Windows 10 64 bit with Gigabyte Motherboard.
It was working fine no issues.
Yesterday I pressed the Update Windows & Shutdown Button.
When I came back to check PC after 20 minutes It was stuck on the loading screen (see attachment). It just stays like this showing the spinning loading animation.
So it wont boot into windows.
What I noticed:
After the issue started I saw in BIOS settings that it had for some reason selected the wrong Disk as 1st Boot device. So I had to select the right boot disk which has the windows files. Also it had switched the drive letters of C and D, so C was no longer the boot drive (which it should have been), so i switched them back so now C is the boot drive, which has the MBR and Windows Files.
What Ive tried:
1 - After few failed attempts at loading, on restart it says preparing automatic repairs.... but it takes ages then shows BSOD and says Stop Code: Driver PNP WatchDog
2 - I managed to boot off Windows 10 DVD (into the recovery console) and tried the system restore, startup repair both dont work .
3 - I managed to start windows and login using safe mode with networking. Now can access internet, see files, etc... some things dont seem to work right like windows updates shows errors
4 - Ive tried commands like fixmbr and fixboot in cmd
5 - ive run chkdsk on boot drive, all issues were fixed, no new issues
6 - Ive run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
7 - Ive then run SFC /scannow and it says all fine, no intergrity issues
8 - Ive done the clean up drive on C drive using Properties>Tools and cleaned all system files
System Restore or Create will not work
Windows update history and Update is not functional
Still same issue when trying to load windows it just gets stuck at the loading screen
I had a look at the log file in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution:
I dont wish to reinstall windows. appreciate help.
My thought is that is that if it can load normally in safe mode then what stopping it load normally.
But bear in mind safe mode only works when you press F8 on restart, it will not work if you set boot in safe mode in the msconfig.... (which it should)
