Hi Sysnative members ,

I was having repeated BSOD on an older Toshiba hard-disk running win 8.1 . BSOD error was Video_TDR_Failure (atikmpag.sys) .
I have AMD Radeon graphics card . I have installed a brand new hard disk with windows 10. It didnt crash the first time I logged in but as soon as I did a windows update it crashed .

All the updates gets installed but crashes as soon as it starts installing/updating graphic card. It reboots and gives me BSOD with the same error.
I also cant change my screen brightness .

What I did to Normal boot on basic display card.
1. Went into safe mode.
2. Uninstalled Radeon graphic drivers using DDU.
3. Stopped device association , device install service , device management enrollment service from services.msc . Because when they are turned ON they detect the card , installs its drivers and gives BSOD again.

Currently I am on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and running fine but temperature of CPU has gone up.

Laptop specs :
Win version : Windows 10 , 64bit
Ram : 8GB ddr3
Hard disk : 1 TB WD blue
Graphic Card : AMD Radeon HD 7550m/7650m

I ran SysnativeFileCollectionApp and attaching the zip file below .

Thank You.

Hi!

The brightness cannot be changed due to you not installing your GPU driver. As the AMD GPU driver crashes even on a different Windows version, I can't help but wonder if the GPU might be dead.

Hi softwaremaniac ,
Thanks for replying.

GPU being dead would be really sad news. I installed an app called whocrashed to analyse the crashdump. It shows me the following

I have directx installed. what could be the problem ? Please tell me more diagnostic tests if you want me to run to confirm card failure.

I am also attaching a screenshot from an app HWinfo . Please See if that can help you in anyway .

I would suggest running FurMark if you can - FurMark Display Card Stress Test

Do you have another graphics card which you can use?

Under Display driver in device manager , it shows Microsoft Basic Display Adapter . The other graphic card being AMD Card. Should I go with the Furmark test ?

Also I didnt overclock my AMD card [I dont know how to overclock it] neither I have ever installed any software related to graphic card . It went BSOD after windows update on my previous windows 8.1 OS.

When I install the drivers for AMD 7550m/7650m it gives BSOD with atikmpag.sys error. It just doesnt let me boot normally .

Oh no ! . Can please tell me how to check fan speed ? It doesnt show in my Sony Vaio BIOS . Any software for this ? I tried Speed fan but it doesnt show up .
