Hi,

We have many different bug checks:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)

This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced.

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

aswSP.sys is the avast! Self Protection driver.

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)

This bug check indicates that a kernel-mode application generated an exception that the error handler did not catch.

Code:
PROCESS_NAME: [COLOR=#ff0000]AvastSvc.exe[/COLOR]

avast! process.

Without going through a bunch more, it's pretty clear what's going on here. avast! is causing memory corruption, which is actually the most common problem directly after OS upgrades because the AV is 'out of date', didn't transition properly during the upgrade, etc.

Remove and replace avast! with Microsoft Security Essentials for temporary troubleshooting purposes:

avast! removal - avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal

MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

Patrick

Hi Patrick, thanks for the quick answer.
Yesterday i tried to do what you suggest, i removed avast and i tried to install microsoft security essentials (MSE).
Uninstall worked fine, but while installing MSE system freezed, so i had to restart pc. On following try the application do not install because of an error.
The problem is that the system is still instable, nothing has changed. I'm answering today from my work place, because yesterday from my instable pc, i tried several time but never finished because of continuos BSOD.

I' ve to explain better one thing: I talked about an upgrade from Wxp to W7, but actually i did a brand new installation not an upgrade. So, avast was the last version downloaded from avast site.

Have you any more suggestions? do you think is better to do a new "Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2.zip"?

thanks in advance

Andrea

Andrea,

Yes, I will need to see the new crash dumps from the crashes I have not yet seen. Rather than re-running the collection app, you can navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump and manually zip up the crash dumps there, and then attach that zip here.

Patrick

In the latest crash DMP, I still see avast! is listed and loaded in the drivers list. Did you run the removal tool? If so, try again, but in safe mode.

Also, ASACPI.sys is listed and loaded which is the Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility (a known BSOD maker in Win7 and Win8). Also a part of many Asus utilities. Yours is dated from 2004, which is way too old to function with the OS. Please either uninstall any/all Asus software, or update your software from Asus' website - ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download
