[SOLVED] BSOD using Verzion jetpack card

I have a coworker that is getting a BSOD when he is on his Verizon Jetpack card. Only happens on that and not on Wi-Fi at home or anywhere else on Wi-Fi. I have copied the dump file off of his pc to analyze it but so far I cant discern what's causing the crash. Here is the error message he is getting. UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP The model card is a Netgear AC791L. The PC is a Dell Inspiron 13-7300 Any help would be appreciated.

Usual causes:* Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Overclocking failure, Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack

Without the .dmps to analyze, that's the best I can do. Hope that helps you narrow it down.

You could run a check on the .dmp rawstack with the sysnative application extension tool that niemiro built. That sometimes helps to determine if there's a driver conflict. You should also check whether the drivers loaded on that system are outdated or if any drivers loaded on that system are known to cause BSODs by checking the driver reference table here or at carrona.org (very useful info).

Your friend is running multiple firewalls. That's probably part of the issue; it's not a good idea to run multiple security programs that try to accomplish the same task since they step on each other's toes a lot. The one causing conflicts is:

There also may be a conflict with the Intel wireless driver, but I suspect the firewall(s) conflict is the real culprit.

The only thing that I know of is he is running Vipre internet security 2016 unless windows firewall needs to be turned off. This started happening around February of this year. I will take a look at disabling his firewall and see if that helps.

Can you tell me how you analyzed the dump. I'm new to analyzing dumps. Thanks for all your help.
 
It's quite possible both firewall drivers are part of the same program given that both have the same prefix. However, since all I had were the .dmps and the information provided by the Driver Reference Table, I reached the conclusion that they might be from separate programs. That, and the driver dates are more than a year apart (VIPRE does some strange things that caused blue screens on my previous systems, which is why I stopped using it). That is why we like to gather information with the Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App from the system being analyzed. It allows us to get a glimpse into what software is actually installed so we do not have to make assumptions based on circumstantial analysis.

As far as fixing your coworker's system : The best way to test would be to have your coworker run with Windows Firewall and disable VIPRE's firewall, or, even better, have your coworker run with VIPRE completely removed and run with only Windows Defender and Windows Firewall as a testing step with the Verizon Jetpack Card.

Writhziden - I have contacted my coworker and will be able to log in and disable the VIPRE firewall and see how it goes. I hope that this will resolve his issue if not ill remove VIPRE completely from his system. On a side note, I was able to install WinDbg, read on how to set it up and view a dump file. Interesting stuff to say the least. Thanks for all your help and I will keep you posted on what transpires.
 
The only problem with just disabling the firewall is that the firewall's drivers still load into RAM and therefore can still cause problems.

The best test is to remove it completely.

It can always be reinstalled.
 
So far so good. The user hasn't has a BSOD and its been about a week and a half. I disabled the VIPRE firewall and that did the trick. Thank you for all your help! Great community here :)
