Here are the requested information:

· OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
· 64-bit
· What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7 Home Premium
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system)? Yes
· Age of system (hardware): 1 year
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? Yes, I reinstalled it this month.

· CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU@2.10GHz 2.10GHz
· Video Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
· MotherBoard: ACPI x64-based PC
· Power Supply - brand & wattage: HP 65W

· System Manufacturer: HP
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom): HP ProBook 4530s

When I was trying to run perfmon /report, I received the following error:

ErrorAn error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The wait for the report generation tool to finish has failed

Re: BSOD - Several Crashes with Blue Screen

Hi -

5 BSODs
- 1 named Intel Bluetooth
- 4 named Globetrotter Connect driver gt72ubus.sys
Code:
[font=lucida console]AMPPAL.sys                  Wed Feb 16 17:45:46 2011 (4D5C539A) - Intel Bluetooth

[COLOR="#FF0000"]gt72ubus.sys[/COLOR]                Tue Oct  9 07:53:29 2007 (470B6BB9) - Globetrotter Connect
gtptser.sys Fri Mar 30 07:38:14 2007 (460CF6A6) - Globetrotter Connect
Gt51Ip.sys Tue Nov 13 09:51:11 2007 (4739B9DF) - Globetrotter Connect[/font]
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=AMPPAL.sys
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=gt72ubus.sys
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=gtptser.sys
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=Gt51Ip.sys

The BSOD involving Intel Bluetooth was on 11 November - the 1st BSOD. The other 4 followed and listed Globetrotter Connect as the probable cause. Intel BT may be OK here; not sure yet. Globetrotter must be dealt with first.

The drivers you have installed are from Vista SP0 era - 2007 and appear to be OEM - provided by Option to the manufacturer of the device.

Option has newer drivers, but states:
Disclaimer: Software published in this website is only designed for Option standard devices. Usage of these software for branded devices is at the user's own risk. Option cannot be held responsible for any damages resulting from the malfunctioning of this usage. Please contact the operator of your branded device for further information.

The device will continue to cause BSODs because the drivers now installed are for Windows 2000, XP and Vista - not Windows 7, so it's worth trying the Option driver updates.

1/2-way down this page under Driver installer -

http://www.option.com/en/support/software-download/ge0441/

Create a system restore point first -
START | type create | create a restore point

What exactly does the Globetrotter do? I see you have other networking devices -
- Atheros AR9285 wifi
- Realtek Ethernet

Re: BSOD - Several Crashes with Blue Screen

Thank you for your prompt response and guides. I am updating the Bluetooth and Option driver, and post back for any issue.

Meanwhile, I started experiencing slowness of my laptop and hanging of mouse cursor recently before using the Option Dongle. I guess the Intel Bluetooth might have been responsible for such issue.

What exactly does the Globetrotter do? I see you have other networking devices -
- Atheros AR9285 wifi
- Realtek Ethernet

I temporarily use it for Mobile Internet

I just re-ran the last dump and see you have a Synaptics touchpad - driver:
Code:
0: kd> [B]lmvm SynTP[/B]
start end module name

I checked HP Support - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5060880

I see an updated Synaptics driver - April 2012

Thank you! I was reading at the site, but had in my mind you had wifi & Ethernet and didn't venture much past that in my thinking.

Re: BSOD - Several Crashes with Blue Screen

Thank you for your support. I have updated the drivers accordingly and will watch out if experience any BSOD issue again.

Meanwhile, I usually experienced jet-speed responses before, not until late last month that the system start to be crawling for my likening.

What can I do to ascertain the cause of the problem?

Hi -

My pleasure to try and help.

Be sure you have the most recent version of your anti-virus installed (Avast - or Avira.. I recall..?) One of them had some problems in recent weeks and as far as I know, the new release fixed things.

http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
http://www.avira.com/en/download/pr...a-free-antivirus/product/avira-free-antivirus

Do you keep the laptop elevated to assure proper airflow? Do you hear the fans kick on?

I have an HP dv7 and had used it on a bed, couch, etc... and it slowed down very quickly -- heat is an enemy. In my case, I keep it raised about 1-2". I suffered from freezing when this laptop was new in 2008.

Use Speedfan to check the temps -- if any have a fireball icon next to them, -- too hot.

http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Keep RESMON up - click in title area of the columns for CPU, RAM, HDD and see if you notice any spikes. If so, look to the detailed area to the left to see if you can pinpoint it.

START | type resmon

I just went through your Tasklist reports (lists all running items) and did not see anything out of the ordinary as far as RAM usage goes.

Driver Verifier is OFF now, correct? From an Admin CMD prompt -
Code:
verifier /reset

Any other questions or problems, please feel free to post back at any time.

Regards. . .

Thank you for your willingness to help.

I have an updated antivirus and the fans do not kick on. I usually put the laptop on the table not using it on any platform that may cause obstruction to the vent.

I have installed SpeedFan but only observed the fireballs (for Temp 2 and Core probably due to initialisation) when I started it, thereafter, no such symbol again except for the arrow and mark signs.

I turned on RESMON and monitor the flows, CPU and Memory usage were OK usually below 30% but Disk Highest Active Time usually 100%. What is the implication?

Driver Verifier is OFF now.

I perceived some improvement now but still experiencing the slowness on MS Word.

Thank you for your help!

the fans do not kick on

Lets get a better look at the temps.
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

The temps look really good so I have to think the fan is working.

That model have the Toshiba Eco utility on it(usually a button and green light up by the power button?
If so do you use it?

Thanks.

I do not have any button and light by the power button but in the front beside memory card slot there is white light that usually beep.

I'm sorry that's my bad I saw Toshiba listed but that's the hard drive not the PC, HP's do not have that eco feature that I'm aware of(it slows down the cpu and buss speeds to conserve power when set to on).
