Hi,
I'm on Windows 8.1 and my Background Information Transfer System is permanently set to "Stopping". I have a bug that renders my HDD Usage to 100% about half the time my PC is on, and stopping BITS was listed as a solution somewhere. In hindsight this was a stupid idea, but hey, I was pretty desperate for a solution. I tried stopping it, and it's been set to 'Stopping' ever since.
I've rebooted my PC several times and also tried a couple of different startup settings for the service, but it's still listed as Stopping.
My Windows Update is (obviously) not working anymore; I had a listed update that I could download manually, but it gave an error (80246008) in the process after freezing a couple of time.
After looking around on the forum a bit, I thought I could save us some steps by running some tests beforehand.
I ran the SFCFix that I downloaded from the forum, which gave me an 0x80240021 and since nothing was resolved I've copied the log. I will also upload my CBS.zip with the large file uploader in a minute.
I'm now running 'sfc /scannow' from the CMD, I didn't know if this was necessary, but when that's done I'll also add that log.
