Banned at SevenForums & EightForums (SF/EF)

I believe we were all IP banned, actually. I went to a SF/EF network website that I wasn't registered to once, and it notified me that I was permanently banned.

Agree on non-vindictive.

I thought all this BS was long over since the "Great Purge" of 2012.

What I find scary -- any other forum that he purchases in the future will have the same effect on us - automatic persona non grata - despite the fact we are a "member in good standing". Sad.

I sincerely hope that TSF is not on his list. If so, there goes 30,000+ of my posts from 2007 - present into the "Guest" category. :r1:

I don't care what he calls it or how he does it - changing a "Registered Member" to "Guest" is tantamount to a ban.

UNREAL.

Apologies for quoting myself, but my post ^^^^ was primarily in reference to a newly purchased forum by the owner of VF/SF/EF - PC Help Forum

As of a few days ago, my status was changed from "Bronze Member" (or whatever it was - Registered Member) to "Guest", which wiped out my profile & forever prevents me from posting there. I had not logged on to PCHF for ??? (no idea) and don't know how many posts I had.

What is not fair about this (& not necessarily for me) is the inability of those with 100s or 1,000s of posts that are now re-classified as "Guests" to link to their profiles for purposes of the Microsoft MVP Award or other.

I can't imagine having a "Hit List" on a TO-DO for forum acquisitions.

Totally asinine & unnecessary in my book.

\I'm sorry you were banned, I guess. I can always give my account information, unless he IP banned. Lol.

You would be banned for sharing your account :lolg:

If you go off topic here don't fear, we encourage conversation :grin1:

I always said I didn't want anything to do with politics and yet, here I am reading this thread and finding it hard to comprehend that (presumably) grown up people are capable of such childishness!

Just in case anyone would misinterpret that post, present company excepted, of course.

John knows how I feel about these people.

@ Laxer, sorry to go off topic but, I love your avatar. Did that really happen or do you think its photoshopped?

Or was you there? :grin1:

Well I am the lates victim in this crazyness.

I think the banning power of the z3r010 sites has definitely gotten out of hand. I would not consider myself rude in any way. I always have tried to develop respect for others and would describe myself as a happy-go-lucky person who likes to lightheartedly joke around. Some things I say may verge on the edge of slightly sarcastic, but only to make a point. I have learned to trained myself to not take anything personal since it rarely is personal. So, I rarely if ever get upset in a forum.

That being said .............

I contributed to SF/EF for over a year and to my dismay, the reason I was banned may sound ridiculous and most likely hilarious to everyone. The reason was simply referenced in one post where a South China born member messaged me saying they were going to report me as I offended the OP. I doubt I did and that the OP even seen my post at that point since the message was literally minutes later. My post was simply to the OP's link that went to an Error 404 page and I simply said, "That link is an error 404, Thanks for that" I swear I did not leave anything out and that was all there was to it. Moments later I am greeted with the "You have been banned" messages stating ..........
Reason: You have been a rude smartass
Date ban will be lifted: Never

Of course I never thought it could EVER happen to me in a million years since I am generally polite and respectful. Wrong I was. I have to say that when you receive a ban for the first time (I never being banned from any other site before) and the reason seams so absurd and petty as if the person that banned you must have been overly sensitive it feels like a slap in the face and makes you think it couldn't have happened too many times to too many people ..... because its so absurd right, and that your one of the rare ones that have been treated unfairly. Its a pill hard to swallow and makes one very angry. But seeing this thread and 'Banned from z3r010's sites'on this site, a site in which I wouldn't have known about if not searching 'banning', helped a lot and was extremely therapeutic. Just to know your in the same boat as dozens or hundreds of other that were banned from the very same site with no good reason other than to exercise some misplaced sense of authority and power which is in fact very anti-American is a big relief.

How are they thinking that this is the way to conduct business and treat people. Aside from what others have said about how childish, unprofessional and vindictive it is, it is immoral, unethical and is downright unamerican in the sense that it is extremely dictatorial. We here in America believe in a judicial process in a democracy and to ban people from a site on an arbitrary whim as it has bean factually proven without any judicial process at all or means to appeal, no resemblance of fairness which appears to be in many cases a decision based on nothing more than a a symptom of misrepresenting a power and authority enabled by unchecked personal feelings, culminating in a self destructive, narcissism and human traits that are not well-spoken-of. This is nothing more than a heavy handed dictatorship ruled with by an iron fist. Sure some will argue that it is their site, they own it and can do whatever they want. But, this ultimately creates on a forum an atmosphere that perpetuates dissension and fear tactics as apposed to community and individuality and above all, in no way shows any level of professionalism or maturity.

After all the only way it seams from my own experience and what I have read here and in other forums speaking of the same site is that the only way to survive there is to check your personality at the door, walk on egg shells, become nothing more than a programed robot, afraid to say anything for fear of hurting the 'ultra sensitive', and don't ever think of disagreeing with anyone, especially Moderators, and be a good little solderer. That is no way to live or work.

It just makes no sense to make enemies of so many people arbitrarily with a callous and dismissive attitude.

Just to treat the free help that your forum would not exist without and all of the volunteers that make it happen in this way is irreprehensible. It just seams like completely bad business to me. They act like they don't need members as they keep turning them away. If there is something we all are missing here that makes this 'Good business' I would like to be clued in on it. I assume they think that if they turn away a few thousand (and it has to be at least a few thousand by now) that it won't matter since there are millions of people. The golden rule that I firmly believe in is, "Treat other how you would like to be treated'. How can anyone being a human being miss the mark on that by so many thousands of miles. I am sure if they were not so self involve in the z3r010 forums and were member contributing to other forums that this would be completely uncalled for and unfair.

I would love to meet Brink some day. If nothing else, to just see in person what kind of high minded, elitist, self serving, lofty, holyer than thou goof he really is.

Anyways, I'm sorry you were banned. z3r has always been nice to me, no idea why he'd ban you guys.
I don't know how someone at SF being nice to you means anything. Brink was always nice to me and we have had many polite exchanges and plesentries thanking each other ..... but then Brink is who my banning came from. how do I know? He was the last visitor to both SF and EF right before I got banned.

I believe we were all IP banned, actually. I went to a SF/EF network website that I wasn't registered to once, and it notified me that I was permanently banned.
I don't understand the IP banning as if I restart my cable modem I get a new IP from TWC. So how would that be a permanent way of tracking banned members?

Has anyone taken a recent poll of the member here that have been banned from z3r010's sites?

I Like This Quote someone posted in 'Banned from z3r010's
Nothing can be more hurtful to an honorable man than that he should be accused of bad faith
~ Mahatma Gandhi quotes
Yes it really hurts ........ even though its only been 24 hrs, I am sure it will fade in a few days.

Sorry to hear it bud, but on the bright side....welcome to the club.
Thanks bassfisher. I know it was a rather long winded post and maybe not all or even many will read it. Just felt I had to say my piece and get it off my chest which in itself was therapeutic. Besides I just found out moments after typing all this out, reading the whole 'Banned from z3r010's sites and before posting it that I was also banned from EF. Originally it was banned from SF two nights ago and I made this mistake of going on EF, thinking Brink would be fair, partial and diplomatic and asking how to get unbanned, albeit politely and graciously, which just alerted him to my other account and banned me there last night.
Reason of course: Banned in SF

The hurt and pain started all over again this second time with EF as if it was the first time. But I know it passes.

It does however through all the humiliation feel like a relief after what I now know and read about their sites, to not have to live in fear of how I word a 3 word sentence and if it will get me banned or not ..... even though I didn't know how shaky the ground is there.

The most aggravating thing after getting over the feeling like you were labeled and treated like some kind of common criminal or lowlife is that you won't have any post answered that you spent a lot of time writing and seams you can't even view ANY threads as a log-out button is no longer visible even after you dump cookies. I guess I could close my browser and reboot which may log me out but I am not sure until I try but I did click the 'keep me logged-in check-mark.

You'll find once you're banned from any of their sites, it's an across the board ban. Which to me is utterly ridiculous and I've even heard/seen that with the acquisitions of other forums and your are a member on that forum and they find out you'll be banned from that forum as well. It's ludicrous and insane policy they have.

You'll eventually get over the that feeling and in the mean time, feel free to jump in any where on TSF. Glad to have you aboard.

BTW, in case you weren't aware, z3r010/John Fairbrother is the owner of the four sites (5 if you count Windows 9), not Brink.

Brink lives in Texas where Fairbrother lives in the UK somewhere.

Well I am testing the theory that being a member here and at TSF will get me banned, I joined SF the other week so now I will see how long it takes. Since this is a test getting banned will make no never mind to me and be first experience of it,I kind hate to be left out of the club lol.

I've been a member since February - I've had exactly one member view my profile, z3r. :grin1:

After reading all this (while looking for malware support for Win8), makes me very curious... So we'll see: a total n00b here with accounts at SF and EF, and a little posting at SF (and not damn much, I got very little help from there, I got more from MDL), let's see if I get the banhammer from them just because I'm a member here---it'll mean that SOMEONE from that forum is squatting on this one watching for duplicate names and/or IPs, for the specific purpose of banning those people on VF/SF/EF/TTF. THAT is really baaaad...

Start the ban counter... NOW! ;-)
