System Information:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Dell Alienware Aurora R 3
Processor: Intel i7 - 2600K @ 3:40 Ghz
Bios: Alienware, Version A06, (no updated bios drivers available from Dell since system delivery, December 2011)
Ram: 16 GB
Video: Nvidia GTX 960, (driver version 355.82)
Audio: Creative SB X-FI, (PCI Express)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ran the DPC Latency Checker, which indicated there was at least one software driver behaving badly, causing a random stutter when playing music, games or running videos.
I attempted to run Windows Assessment & Deployment Kit found on your site, to possibly identify the software driver,(s) causing the spike or stuttering.
Download and install of Windows Assessment processed as shown on your site.
Clicked Start, then ran cmd: xperf - on DiagEasy, with no problems.
However: cmd: xperf -d %userprofile%\Desktop\trace.etl:
results in an error message in cmd with several -help options which do not seem to be of assistance.
I have tried un - installing the assessment tool in control panel and re - running the process, however unsuccessfully.
Have tried installing Windows Assessment & Deployment Kit in C:/Programs, rather than C:/Programs, (x86), but that alternate install did not result in a successful assessment or report.
1) Do I need to create a user profile file first, prior to running the assessment tool?
2) Is there a step or cmd entry that may be of assistance in having a successful assessment report?
Any assistance or information would be greatly appreciated.
