Hi, i recently upgraded my pc setup, reinstalled windows and the like. I've encountered audio pops while playing games and having a stream open in the background, i thought i was going crazy until i found this LatencyMon program and it seems like the issue is ndis.sys and storport.sys according to latencymon.

Alright i'll get to that! also would like to add i started running latencymon again and now dxgkrnl.sys - directX graphics kernel popped up as an issue as well

Hi, @xrobwx71 I get to the part where it says to enter the command line in command prompt and i get this error, there isn't a trace file on my desktop either.

I assume i managed to get the first command to work but the second one isn't. The xperf -d "%userprofile%\Desktop\trace.etl" command seems like it isn't creating the file on the desktop for some reason?

Little update: i updated my bios through the bios screen using the internet option to a version that is 10 months newer than what i had and it seems to be better but latencymon is now showing different things. I checked the asus website and the newest bios version came out last month i think, so i may try that at some point.

No need for an apology. I understand these things can be frustrating.

Have you tried changing the default sampling rate in your sound properties?

See here: How to Fix Crackling or Popping Sound on a Windows PC

You are running an old version of CPUz. Download the latest, please. CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID

Also, update your Nvidia Drivers to the latest here NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL

Let me know how things go and if successful, we'll move on from here.
Okay, i messed around with the sample rates but none sounded different except one where there was crackling all the time while testing this with music, I do hear little audio pops at certain points in some songs but it's at the exact same spot every time so i assume it's an issue in the video, except when i just updated my nvidia drivers i heard some crackling that never used to be there and i tried to see if it would show up again but nothing so definitely something going on. i updated CPU-Z as well i had the one that came installed with this asus motherboard.

Are you still experiencing pops and crackles?
I've been listening to music since that post and i haven't heard it come back yet. but like i said i do hear little pops in the music video im listening to but i assume that's the video since it's at the same spot every time. I'm also gonna go ahead and ask from the computer i upgraded from is it possible the audio quality wasn't that great to where i never noticed these sounds before in videos? I'm also still worried about the latencymon report from before, i haven't ran it recently though.

Edit: Also im running Realteks Audio Control gonna upload a few pictures of the settings, is it also possible the amplify sound could be causing me hearing things i never heard before?

It's possible.

I'd like you to remove Avast. Removing Avast will turn Windows Security back on so you will not be vulnerable. In my opinion, Windows Security is superior to Avast and I recommend you just use Windows Security. Windows Security is a very robust and full-featured security solution and is integrated into the Operating System and will use fewer resources and will cause fewer issues.

Use this tool to uninstall Avast. Follow the directions carefully so Avast will be removed completely.

Oh wow, avast can cause these types of issues? i've used avast for years, gonna suck not having it  but i'll go ahead and do that.

It absolutely can.

You'll be just as protected with Windows Security as you were with Avast but without the adverse issues.

In the end, it's your PC, if you want to re-install Avast, you always have that option. I want you to feel comfortable about it.
