Hi all,

I keep experiencing an issue with my PC, where the microphone input from my headset is frequently not detected. The issue occurs after the PC has gone into Sleep mode and been restarted, and then requires 3 restarts to fix each time. The headset itself is working fine, and has been tested on my laptop with no issues.

The headset has two 3.5mm jacks - one for audio, the other for microphone line in.

When plugged in:
1) Microphone starts as working (e.g. after previously restarting several times)
2) Computer goes into sleep mode - potentially multiple times.
3) Microphone is no longer detected by PC, and troubleshooting indicates that nothing is plugged into Line In.

When restarting - two things happen:
1) After restart, if the headset is plugged into the computer the audio settings do not open. Instead I get a loading screen when I try and open these. I can open the settings after unplugging the headset.
2) The microphone is not detected the first few times - repeatedly plugging / unplugging and running microphone troubleshooting does not fix this. Only restarting (usually 3 times) fixes this.

I've updated audio drivers to the latest from the Dell site, and I'm pretty baffled by what's happening. I feel like it's a driver issue, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

Appreciate any help with this!

It's just a "might be" and won't hurt to try.

Turn hibernation off and back on if needed, I leave mine off as it can cause a plethora of issues. You'll also gain about 6-12 GB of space as this will delete the bloated hiberfil.sys hibernation file.

Elevated command prompt, powercfg.exe /hibernate off then reboot.
and likewise to turn it back on. powercfg.exe /hibernate on

If you leave it off, you'll lose that negligible "fast startup" feature.

Fast startup/Hibernate is a good shout - I wonder if that's actually part of the cause, especially as it persists through a couple of reboots.

I'm pretty sure the issue fixed whenever the driver is fully restarted - uninstalling / reinstalling the driver will fix the issue temporarily, until I next turn on my PC.

I have solved many different issues over the years with turning fast startup off. Or at least off and on to refresh the possible corruption of the hyberfil.sys.

Unfortunately getting the same issue - Hibernate was set to Never, and I've disabled Fast Startup and restarted. Microphone not detected when being plugged in.

Hmm - got a service not found error when running xilolee's commands. I'll double check what the error was when I get back on the PC and post.

@xilolee - you mentioned logs at the start. What logs do you want? We don't have any posting instructions containing logs for this specific forum, and the BSOD logs didn't seem relevant initially when posting.
