An update!

This was quite the pain to install but:

P1000312.JPG

I added another 6970 to my system.

The problem is the card sits so low to my motherboard that it literally covers 4 of my sata headers.

Consequently I had to use right and left angle sata connectors on the motherboard side or It literally would not fit :lolg:

Depends a lot on the game, the second card is turned off under normal loads.

I can max out skyrim now with all the high texture mods and maintain a good 45+ fps.

I got about a 65% improvement in my furmark score.

FWIW I was really concerned about cooling of the top card which interestingly enough hasn't been a problem.

All and all I will probably continue playing with it for a week or so then sell it as I don't really need that much fire power.
It's also worth noting, GPUs for some reason are crashing recently.

I got both of my 6970s for under $250! (The first one was 130 the second was 118) Which is just nuts considering what they used to go for.

If you would like me to I can run some test for you Bruce.

This is the second time I have ran a crossfire set up; these seem far more stable than my 5870s which were a nightmare with drivers!

You should have called me! :)

Eh, AMD graphic drivers are known to be bad.

Some of the worse supported drivers are those of the 58XX series which is what I had. Add crossfire on top of that and you are asking for trouble.

Stability would change from update to update. There were times where I was months behind on driver updates just to be stable.

The 6000 series has far better graphics and scale way better with crossfire which is nice :grin1:

Those are some absolutely awesome achievements!!!

Sounds like you have been one very busy guy!

Congrats!!!!

And congrats to your sister as well.
