Hi there,
Recently I got a brand-new Huawei Matebook 14s laptop: Intei i7 13700h, 16 gb ram lddr5. Upon turning it on the first time, I just took a general look on built-in Windows from manufactor (Huawei) after installing it, then decided to back up everything via Acronis and that's all. Next, I formatted everything and copied the Windows OS from my previous laptop which is Honor Magicbook (still in use though). I have used particularly this Windows exemplar since like 2016. Then it was ported to that Honor, and now I ported it again to this brand-new Huawei. I had to download all necessary drivers connecting a cable, as wifi network card wasn't recognized by that Windows. And now, almost everything works fine, except two things. No way I can activate ambient lighting sensor in that Windows, given that in the initial Windows that was from the manufacturer it worked. Also, I tried to install a completely new Windows image to an external hard drive, it also downloaded everything with a cable, and then I could see the built-in light sensor in the settings by the option "Change brightness automatically when lighting changes". However, in this Windows, I DO see it in the device manager, whereas I do NOT have the option below in the settings at all. Also, it is recognized in the Microsoft app SensorExplorer, but it gives no data there, the app doesn't display what lighting is. But in brand new Windows that is currently installed on the external HD, it does display all the data.
Are there any thoughts on this matter? I understand this functionality isn't critical, but I just want to expand all the potential of my new laptop and use all its features.
You could say why not to do a clean install? I'm an experienced musician who has installed about 1000 different plug-ins and programs to do sound production during all time, and I much, very much wouldn't like to have to re-install it all again, as it would be an extremely boring and time-consuming task that would take me no less than like a whole month of sitting with my laptop doing such a routine to have possibly no luck, as vst plugins are quite complicated things when it comes to all their relations with each other, other files, old projects that still need to be opened and etc. People like me will understand. So, for me it's better to keep anyway the Windows I have used, but to fix that error that persists.
As far as I know, there's an option such as re-installing Windows keeping programs & user files mounting an iso with new Windows. I have to mention as well that first, the Windows I copied to the SSD inside was older build than newest, had to update it via iso. As far as I remember the lighting sensor didn't work on that older version either. I think right now I'm going to re-install Windows keeping apps & user files, but I have quite little belief it'll work.
Any advice of yours is much appreciated, thanks in advance.
