It is possible that the hibernation file is corrupted.
Delete the hibernation file (
c:\hiberfil.sys).
You
MAY have to disable hibernation first if you get an error while deleting the hibernation file (like "access denied"). It simply means that the hibernation file is "in use" and the system won't allow deletion.
Enable or Disable Hibernation
Disabling hibernation may cause the deletion of hiberfil.sys; not sure.
hiberfil.sys is a "system, hidden" attribute file, so if not already done, you'll need to adjust File Explorer to allow you to see hidden files.
An easier way to deal with it - Bring up an
elevated Admin CMD Prompt Screen and type/paste the following command -
Do you see
hiberfil.sys listed?
Try to delete it - (first, we will remove the "System" and "Hidden" file attributes) -
Code:
attrib -s -h c:\hiberfil.sys
Then check for the hibernation file again -
Do you see
hiberfil.sys listed?
It is important that this be done from an Admin CMD prompt screen.
After hibernation file deletion, place the system in hibernation mode (be sure to turn hibernation back on again first); then bring the system out of hibernation and see if the system restarts or is back to normal.
