All Windows Cumulative Updates failing since around July

Hello,
I noticed that all my Windows Cumulative Updates (with the exception of .Net Framework and Defender updates) have been failing since around July, and googling led me to this great forum. I am not having any issues with my machine other than this, but I really want to be able to get the most recent security fixes. Reinstalling the OS is not an option for me at this point.

I have done all of the steps suggested in this forum so far. The logs indicate that there is corruption with Windows Defender files -- my situation most closely mirrors this one:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-flags-windows-defender-ps-files-as-corrupted

Details -
-Windows Update Troubleshooter doesn't find any problems
-SFC scan returns an error about corrupted files
-DSIM returns errors about corrupted files
-SFCFix crashes with an error about "something has gone horribly wrong."

Attached is my CBS file. Thank you for reading

Hi!

I see you are not using the latest build of Windows. Let's get you upgraded:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

Thanks for the quick reply. In the process of doing this now but I have to ask - will this get rid of my non-Windows apps, such as Photoshop & other software? I'm unclear if I am basically reinstalling the OS, which I would like to avoid so I don't lose programs.

Sorry for multiple post questions, but I just want to be very sure before I do this as I have a lot of specifically configured programs:
1. Will this keep all program settings as well, such as Chrome, Filezilla, Photoshop configurations?
2. Will I be able to roll this back?
3. This is the final screen - Does this look right? I ask because it doesn't say anything about upgrading, it looks like it's doing a fresh install.
Again apologies, I just know how this can go sometimes & am worried about having to do hours of reconfiguring everything.

Hi!

Yes, this looks okay. Most program settings will remain intact, some applications may reconfigure after being launched on a new Windows version, like ClassicShell for example. But nothing should be changed.

As for rolling back, I would not recommend it. I'd suggest you create a backup, just in case before doing this.
