It's running XP home and with the impending end of support for that OS, I was thinking of upgrading it to windows 7. After checking the Acer support site, there are no official driver support for windows 7 just XP. So my question is; has anybody upgraded or clean installed windows 7 on one of these devices? Where there any issues?

Windows 7 has a pretty good compatibility with XP drivers. Plus you can almost always find a stock driver or a 3rd party driver for the items that don't work.

Where as 8/8.1 are really designed for tablets/netbooks with such hardware. Now we have asus transformer w/touch screen that came with 7 starter and I upgraded it to 8 and it works wonderfully....except for the screen resolution issue. I might forgo windows 7 and go with windows 8 on the Acer netbook.

That's been done...just outlook express is the only thing that was flagged....everything else says it's fine....but from my experience...just because is says it's good to go does not necessarily mean it will. It's why I asked if anyone upgraded this specific model. I guess the only true way to find out is just to do it.

It all checks out as "good to go" for upgrade. My question was and still is; has anyone or know anyone who has upgraded this device to windows 7 or 8? If so, where there any issues/problems?

Therefore, it may be advisable to either make a complete disk image prior to upgrade, so that a rollback is painless, or try on a separate partition first, if disk space permits. Richard
