Hello

I been getting weird noises for few months and it's absolutely annoying, and it's concerning given that it appears from the system with no apps, sometimes it just goes away on boot sometimes it comes back, which it did and i managed to capture it with Audacity

I would absolutely appreciate if someone finds a solution for this, it's not from any game or program it's seriously from background and i can't find anything that might be causing it on task manager (Dont mind the (2) the first file was stuck on edge and i could't rename or delete it)

Its coming from Windows or an app.

Hit start, type control panel, and open the control panel. Look for sound. Click sound. When the window opens, click the sound tab. Any sound you see there with a little speaker by it is an activated Windows sound. Click on each and play it to see if you recognize the one. It sounds like a Windows XP exclamation sound.

Are you hearing this sound when a speaker or headphones are plugged in? If yes, unplug everything and let us know if you are still getting it.

I occasionally hear something very much like this, it's quite infrequent so very difficult to pinpoint but it seems to happen when some background software/app expects input (I think) as I see and hear *something* closing as I close a window/software in the foreground.

It might only have happened 4-5 times over maybe 2 months, it's so rare I'm never expecting it; my speakers are usually at a very low level until I'm actively listening/watching which doesn't help get a handle on it.

I mean yeah im using headphones and the sound is from the pc and i dont think that fixes the main problem plus it's not like i got wireless earbuds or normal headphones to listen stuff from my phone instead of from my pc

Plus i dont think i would have the recordings with help of audacity if it wasn't from the pc-

Mine happends way more, sometimes 10 in one hour or 2 in around 5 minutes, it's really random and it's seriously driving me crazy

As I wrote above, unplug everything (headphones, speakers) and let us know if you are still getting the sound.

What didn't work? You mean that you hear the sound when everything is unplugged or not?

I mean once everything's unplugged i don't hear it but plugging it back doesn't fixes anything

Plus I thought you meant replugging everything-

And how you connect the headphones? USB or audio jack?

Never heard of usb based headphones but yeah it's audio port connected to my hdmi monitor

I still had the audio issue with different headphone and even when it was plugged behind the motherboard before i got a hdmi monitor

My headphones are USB based, and yes, using USB based headphones would tell us if the onboard analog audio system is the cause. Otherwise, a driver or a software related issue.

I think it's just steam thing, i figured it out steam online friend notification caused it, fortunately i didnt had much.

I'll keep the post as unsolved since it been few minutes i did it, might appear again hours later :(

How about that! 😄

I hope that was the issue and nothing more complicate.
