We get quite a few Roe Deer around where I live, but none tame enough to come near you. Most you usually see of them is a flash of white as they run away.
One exception. A couple of years back it was really cold, with a hard frost, and a herd of about a dozen let us get close in the woods. We were on one side of the beck (stream) and they stood still on the other side, even though we had the dogs with us (I'd put them on their leads so they couldn't chase). Strangely they didn't seem to mind us being there, and just strollled away after a few minutes.
