I am having massive problems with Windows update on this computer. The Automatic Windows update system gets an error when I try to run it:
Windows could not search for new updates - Code 80070002 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
The system which belongs to a daughter of a co-worker had a pretty massive virus/malware infection and I think that all active infections are gone, but obviously some of the damage remains. I have followed the instructions on the Microsoft Update website related to this error. I have ran the SURT and stopped and restarted the update service ( deleting the temp files from softwareDistribution\download and datastore folders) i also ran the System File Checker scanner. When I try to install specific updates manually (I have tried several different ones and don't remember which) only mayber one of 4 that I tried worked. i am including system info below.
