Hi, tank you very much.

But I still can not install the same windows updates, error code 800736B3. I think the problem is in the latest Framework version installed.

Aha, please upload the latest CBS.log (after the update has failed), so I can inspect it.

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run Windows Updates just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download the update MSU here:
    http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/secu/2017/11/windows8.1-kb4054519-x64_ad78da956d88ae3cd98982c11730240668c0e93f.msu
  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand windows8.1-kb4054519-x64_ad78da956d88ae3cd98982c11730240668c0e93f.msu -f:* C:\temp

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows8.1-kb4054519-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)?
  7. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

If you receive any other message:
  8. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colours by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  9. Please paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post, then zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Hi - softwaremaniac asked that I step in to assist as he will be unavailable for a little bit.

Please attempt to uninstall KB3172614 and let me know if it is successful.

Hi, I have not got this update installed. It is in the queue of the 9 pending windows updates. I've tried to install some individually and it didn't work either. I think the problem is in the latest version of .NET Framework installed (4.5.2)

Thank you very much,

I've seen you mention a few times now that you think .NET Framework is the issue. Have you attempted to uninstall the .NET Framework 4.5.2?
