I just created this account, and I can't believe that the damn prncacla.inf nightmare is gone.
I am so surprised about this community! Thanks to you guys I was able to fix this damn machine.
But there is a problem, my original problem remains intact.
My Windows Update would fail installing the KB4504418 update (2019-07 Serving Stack Update), it would fail from the Windows Update, and also from the standalone update.
So in my quest to troubleshoot this I ended up running SFC /scannow which would detect a failure (Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB of prncacla.inf, Version = 6.3.9600.17415) that cannot repair (hash mismatch)
Running dism /restorehealth would freeze at 40%.
SfcFix without a script would also get stuck since it seems that it attempts a dism /restorehealth as well, and failing to create logs for some reason
Browsing the forums I found out about the script for this specific problem, and after applying the script the prncacla.inf got replaced. SFC doesn't find any problem anymore (Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.) Hurrah!
I thought my troubles were over so I went to run the KB4504418 standalone installer, and it failed again.
So now I am lost, I don't know where to proceed.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong?
I have run the Windows Update troubleshooter, which continuously tells me that has "Potential Windows Update Database error Detected 0x80070490" (fixed) and "Windows Update components must be repaired" (fixed)
And still the installer keeps failing. I tried to run DISM /restorehealth thinking that it may work this time, after SFCFix it would work... and nope it didn't. At least this time it didn't freeze at 40%, it gave me a proper error message (log on DISM failure attached).
If anyone has any suggestion I would be very grateful :)
Thanks everyone for reading so far.
