If you download the 7Zip installer from the 7Zip site, 7zip.com, it comes bundled with piles of difficult to remove opt-out malware!

This MALWARE includes:

• Weather software
• CONDUIT browser infestations
• Crossrider
• SpeedUpMyPC - Uniblue
• ValueApps
• and maybe others I missed.

you have to be pretty savy to remove all of that payload.
you have been warned.

Google Toshiba Drives and this is what you get...........the top one is a paid ad and not a Toshiba site.

Good reason to warn against Google, not 7-zip. Try out DuckDuckGo https://duckduckgo.com/?q=7Zip, I find it very well suited to my search requirements.

Deception & Apologies

I have in vain attempted to repeat myself with the malware attached to 7zip fiasco.
I cannot duplicate the download link in my search in google.
of course, my apologies to all!

the correct site now displays, and (surprise!) does not look like the fake 7zip site from which my malware came.

warning! if i, who am uber careful about downloading anything, can be deceived, god help the masses!!

That is indeed the scary part, Temmu -- knowing your experience and caution. Besides, the link does indeed look to be the official site. As to gentle responses, that goes without saying. After all, what value would there be to do otherwise?

Most likely 7zip complained to Google and they pulled the Ad/site from their list.
