2 windows update problems :/

Hello to all,

I'm having these 2 issues with windows update. I've already tried:
- Updating one by one,
- The windows readiness tool,
- The microsoft fix it center program.
- The windows 7 startup repair,
- Using the "restore point" option,
- Installing the updates while offline (and online),
- Repairing errors with ccleaner, and tune-up,
- Scanning for viruses (just in case) with Bitdefender, spybot S&D, and Malwarebytes.

All with no success. :banghead:

PS: I'm trying to attach the CBS.rar file, but somehow it doesn't work. Maybe because it's too heavy? (15 Mb) What should I do?

I'm sorry for the delay in responding here. Can you please run the System Update Readiness Tool again. What is the System Update Readiness Tool?

There are no logs in your folder (unless you just didn't upload them).

Then please zip-up and upload C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log.

Hello again :)

Thanks so much for that! I've created a fix for the issue. Now we import it and see if it works. If it does, great, if not, I reassess and edit it slightly to make it work. Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to perfect, sometimes I get it first time. We'll just have to wait and see.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
Download the file below, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
Save any open documents and close all open windows.
On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.txt.
Drag the file SFCFix.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
SFCFix will now process the script.
Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please.

Then re-run System Update Readiness Tool and post me a new CheckSUR.log.

I'm sorry for the delay here, I've been snowed under with work.

A couple of errors there. The problem uploading the COMPONENTS hive was due to a bug in the tool which I've since fixed.

Can you now please run the attached script.

OK, we resort to the manual methods. I'll get the tool patched up later, but I'll complete your case manually.

Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
Navigate to C:\Windows\RegBak\{Date}\ and copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
Now right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
Then please upload it to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). If you have a Microsoft Account, OneDrive could be a good choice: https://onedrive.live.com/, but any other will do just fine. Make sure to set the file as publicly accessible.
Then send me a link to the file here.
