since april this year I got the 0x9F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE when my PC restarts
from standby (suspend to RAM). It happens randomly every 5 days in average.
Before April the system runs without this problem for 16 month.

The Bugcheck analysis generated from Windbg shows that Rt64win7.sys should be the culprit.
I found Rt64win7.sys 7.67.1226.2012 on the system and updated it to the newest version
7.072.0410.2013 but the crash occurs again.
Next I tried to go back to the original version 7.049.0927.2011 which comes with
my motherboard GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3.
But the crash occurs again at the same rate.

I hope someone can give me some help.
Hajo

Another that is being flagged as a problem driver. It's not appearing in the crash dumps as a cause, but it should be removed

AppleCharger.sys Mon Jan 10 09:57:29 2011 (4D2AD809)
GIGABYTE On/Off Charge driver. See here for details - GIGABYTE ON/OFF Charge
May cause BSOD on Win7/8 systems - uninstall to test (haven't seen recently (15Jan2013))

Another that is being flagged as a problem driver. It's not appearing in the crash dumps as a cause, but it should be removed

AppleCharger.sys Mon Jan 10 09:57:29 2011 (4D2AD809)

Hi Stephen,
thanks for your advice.
I made the update for Rt64win7 (7.73.618.2013) and igdkmd (9.17.10.3223),
and disabled AppleCharger.sys with autoruns.

Now I am keen on the behaviour in the week, because the crash happens only
randomly every 5-7 days.

Good luck for your exams,
Hajo

Hello,

Great, that's perfect. Keep and eye on the system over the week and let me know how it performs. :)

Thank you very much!

Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Unfortunately, the error occurred again. Just 2 days after the last changes I got the same message:
Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFA80070FC060, 0xFFFFF80000B9C3D8, 0xFFFFFA8006EF4E10)
The error shows up after restart from standby, as always.

What information do you need now?
Hajo

Can you please work through the bsod posting instructions again please.

Stephen

Hi Stephen,
during the run of Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2.exe I got some popups saying that some programs do not work
anymore and must be finished. I closed all these windows. The last windows saying that "Find String (QGREP)"
is not working correct pops up over and over again.
QGREP Message.jpg
Whatever this means, I zipped all the generated files.

I have messaged the developer of the collection app.

Still blaming those Realtek drivers...

Try this:

Start --> Type "Device Manager" into the search box --> Expand the Network Adaptors catagory --> Right click on your Realtek adapter(s) --> Properties --> Power Management --> Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

I thought of that because Windows is probably turning it off when it goes into standby, and it's not working correctly when it re-enables it.

The drivers did update correctly btw, I can see them in the dumps as updated :)

Regards,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Today it happend again.
Running Windbg shows up the same culprit: Rt64win7.sys

Its a hard nut to crack.
Hajo

Hi Hajo,

Stephen is very caught up at the moment so he asked me to take over. Can you please attach the latest dump file(s) so I can take a look?

Regards,

Patrick

Thanks!

Right, so all of the attached DMP files are of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bugcheck.

This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

By default, they are all faulting pci.sys which is the NT Plug and Play PCI Enumerator (system driver, not the true cause and is being driven to fault by something else). If we run an !irp on the 4th parameter of the bugcheck (blocked IRP address), we get the following:

Code:
>[ 16, 2] 0 e1 fffffa8010cb1050 00000000 fffff800044d0200-fffffa801159eaf0 Success Error Cancel pending

Rt64win7.sys is the Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. I can see you have updated this driver per Stephen's instructions, however we are still seeing it as a fault of the crashes. It's possible we are dealing with an antivirus conflict here causing issues with the NETBIOS ports. I see remnants of Avira in your drivers list, so remove and replace Avira with Microsoft Security Essentials:

I see remnants of Avira in your drivers list, so remove and replace Avira with Microsoft Security Essentials:
I was very busy in the last weeks, so this reply comes late.
Since the Avira Antivirus Software was removed and replaced with MS Security Essentials, there was no
blue screen. This is now true for 8 days and this indicates a potential enhancement.

Another thing I noticed was, that the network runs at 10 Mbit only. Therefore I made a BIOS update,
but with no success. Maybe there is a relationship between both effects, may be not.
I decided to replace the onboard Realtek adapter with a PCIe card with an intel chipset.
My next report will show the results.
Greetings, Hajo

Hi,

this is an interim report.
5 days after my last post, there was another BSOD with the same culprit Rt64win7.sys
So removing Avira Antivirus was NOT the final solution.
On Oct-20 I installed a NIC with an Intel chipset. Since then, the Realtek connection
shows also 1Gbit instead of the 10Mbit before. Strange side effect.
I let both connections active in the device manager but my internet connection runs on the new NIC.
There were no BSOD since this date, but one time standby was not possible.
I had to switch off power instead. Because the Realtek chip was still active
the last step was to deactivate it in the device manager.
Stay tuned what will happen in the next weeks.
Regards, Hajo

Hi -

That last BSOD did in fact name Realtek as the probable cause.

Current system reports (thank you!) show your new Intel NIC as the only one connected -
