I'm having an error, I have Windows 11 and there are new updates:- 2025-01 Preview of Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, Version 24H2 for x64 (KB5050577)- 2025-01 Preview of Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5050094) and some others, but I just can't download them, every time I get the same error (Installation error - 0x800703f1) I checked and apparently it's the DRIVERS hive. I have attached my CBS here for someone to review and help me... (I tried to install the Windows ISO but it fails to download, I tried removing all the Windows Update folders to download the update again and that didn't work either...)

in sfc /scannow it says: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located in windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example, C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
I saw this CBS error --> 2024-09-17 03:27:38, CBS Error Doqe: Test driver updates failed [HRESULT = 0x800703f1 - ERROR_BADDB]

I apologize if there is an error in the text above, I used Google Translate, I speak Portuguese

Hi @IrisPs,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

Hi and welome to Sysnative,

Upload your DRIVERS Hive
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config and locate the DRIVERS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named DRIVERS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

Replace Drivers Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download DRIVERS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Drivers folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

Afterwards reboot the system and attempt to update. If it fails attach the latest CBS logs and the following logfile.

Upload the setupapi.dev.log file
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\INF folder.
  • Right-click on the file setupapi.dev.log and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file setupapi.dev.zip in your next reply.
