You don't run someone over, just because you think they might have committed a crime. As far as I'm concerned the police officer should be arrested and charged for that behaviour.

I hear you, Will. I was amazed to see a UK police program recently where cops (PCs...?) went to a guys house to arrest him for attempted murder. I was astonished when a few PCs went to his front door, rang the bell, suspect answered; police allowed him to get dressed and brush his teeth before taking him to the station -- no hand cuffs! Unheard of here in the States. In USA, SWAT would have been out for an early dawn raid w/ "no-knock" warrant, breaking the front door in.

It's the notion that some members of the police have that they're in a bad action movie. Give someone a gun and a badge, all of a sudden they're in starsky and hutch. Other countries don't have the same "suicide by cop" issue that some areas of the US have. In contrast to the above video, here's a remarkable show of courage and restraint: https://youtu.be/mn0tNhEkVI0 It's not necessary to kill everyone just because you think they've done something wrong, or for that matter have disrespected your authority... The above video was the quickest one I could find - I'm sure it's up elsewhere on YouTube if you're not a fan of TYT.
