[SOLVED] Asus Laptop BSODs

Make sure that the RAM you just put in, and any new RAM you might buy, are fully compatible with your laptop.

If there's a QVL available, that's memory you can buy to replace the bad memory.

The Ram I put in was from a previous Alienware laptop that I upgraded to 64GB. This Ram in here that I replaced seems to cause more heat or noise. But I am not sure .Looks like I will have to order from Crucial for compatible Ram. No hardware errors though?

I looked that up..
QVL means “Qualified Vendor List”. Motherboard (MOBO) manufacturers create a list of the CPUs and RAM memory that they have tested with the motherboard and can thus guarantee will work properly together. It's critical that all the components of a PC work together seamlessly to proves stable operating system.Dec 14, 2022

Yes, QVL is the way to go for buying components, it's a safe bet assuming no DOA or anything like that, and assuming the components can still be bought!

Wow! Thank you again ...I'm looking that up online. Is it necessary to upgrade to 32GB or is 16 GBs of Ram good enough for gaming on a 2015 laptop may I ask?

I would guess 16GB RAM should be sufficient, it's not like a 2015 laptop can handle the latest games at 100% or anything which may or may not require more than 16GB of RAM.

Thank you @axe0 ! Looks like QLV doesn't have Asus GL503ge-RS71 Model for Memory but they have a Vengeance Series 16GB (2×8GB) Sodium 3200 MHz CL 22 Memory Kit.. Can I order this one? DDR4

Theoretically you can order the Asus one too, if it's not on the QVL list it doesn't mean the RAM won't work. Only that it's not been tested to work.

I would however go for the safer option if I were in your shoes

@axe0 Hello Just to let you all know. I have ordered new Ram for this Asus. So just waiting for it come in.

I ordered this from Crucial and received the Memory 2 8x8 16 DDR4 kit. I do not understand why the Manufacturer is listed as Micr
on? The numbers do not look right? I had my sister order from Amazon so I could get these in 2 days. I do not have an Amazon account. So what do you advise or do you need to know?

The RAM in that photo on the right is NOT the same part number as that on the Crucial website for your laptop.

The Amazon RAM is CT2K8G4SFRA32A
The Crucial RAM is CT2K8G4SFS824A

If it were me I would ONLY buy the Crucial RAM.

Thank you! I'm returning it because I ordered 2 Crucial Ram not 1 but 2) 8GBs! I'll get my money back and order directly from Crucial myself. I'm certain I put in 2 Crucial Ram out of the box. I appreciate your quick response!

Edited: I have ordered directly from Crucial! Thanks for that link!

Micron is the manufacturer of Crucial. Crucial is Micron's Consumer brand.
