    Persistent Connectivity Issue

    Vista SP 2, Sony Vaio laptop, 4 GB RAM.
    I had posted about this issue previously and thought it was resolved.
    It was not. LAN or WiFi these issues still prevail:

    1) most pages loop and do not load, even with frequent reloading of tabs. A few pages do load occasionally after some minutes and at other times they do not. Which pages load and which not seems random.

    2) downloads generally fail, never mind from which server, even after several retries

    3) videos, like youtube, do not play, they stay in a loop buffering.

    these issues regardless of browser. I tried IE, chrome and firefox.

    Your suggestions and ideas are welcome.

    Attach the resulting zip file to your next post in this thread.

    Don't be concerned with "BSOD" in the title of the sticky thread. Yes, the Sysnative/jcgriff2 app (step #1) is used by ALL BSOD OPs seeking BSOD help, but the system files (info + reports) that the app generates is a very valuable troubleshooting tool that I use to figure out non-BSOD issues.

    It should take between 3 and 15 minutes to run, depending on your system's specifications.

    Please provide answers for the following questions:
    1. Who is your Internet Service Provider? Is it Cable company; FIOS, or DSL?
    2. How many devices are connected to your home network (incl phones, tablets, etc...)?
    3. Do you normally use Ethernet or wifi?
    4. How long have you had this problem for?
    5. What firewall do you use?
    6. What anti-virus app do you have installed?
    7. Which Internet browser do you normally use - e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc...)
    8. Have you tried other browsers?
    9. If YES, do the same problems occur?
    10. Have you tried to browse web sites under Safemode with Networking?
    To boot into Safemode w/Networking, re-start your computer; upon re-boot, repeatedly press the F8 key until a constant beep is heard.

    When given a list of choices, select "Safemode with Networking" The video may appear strange to you. No worries -- the video driver does not load installing instead an old Microsoft driver from the days of DOS called vga.sys

    Give your browser a try now. You can go to any site that you wish to.

    Does the system seem to load pages faster; is performance much better?

    To get things back to "regular", simply re-boot your system, but do not select "Safemode with Networking" this time.

    thank you very much for your comprehensive and thoughtful reply.
    since posting about this I gave complete internet repair another try, first five options checked.
    after rebooting the issue again seems to be resolved for the moment. all problems described in my earlier post have vanished
    and online operation appears to be restored to normal, including downloads, pages loading and video playback.

    should this change I will gladly revert to your offer and follow the steps you suggest.
