Unhappy Windows 10 VPN Server Issue. (Connection interrupted)

I am trying to set up a VPN Server on my Windows 10 computer. I get the following error when trying to connect to it from any computer:
The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity. Please try to reconnect to the VPN server. If this problem persists, contact the VPN administrator and analyze quality of network connectivity.

I get this error instantly if I try connecting to it on the same computer the server is running on and using the internal IP address. I get this error after it times out when trying to connect externally.

    Things I've Tried:
Allowing 1723 (PPTP) from the Windows Firewall.
    Disabling the Windows Firewall.
Allowing 1723 (PPTP) from the Router.
    Disabling the Router's Firewall.
Set the server computer as the Router's DMZ.
    Connect via External IP.
    Connect via External DDNS.
    Connect via Internal IP.
    Connect via Localhost and 127.0.0.1.
    Accept incoming connections for VPN.
Tried Microsoft Account user (both "SERVERNAME\USERNAME" and just USERNAME).
Tried local accounts created specifically for the VPN.
Tried connecting using Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2).
Tried checking Automatically use my Windows login name and password (and domain, if any).
Tried connecting from multiple devices, including my Android Smartphone.

    My Server Settings:
    Accepting IPv4.
Checked "Allow others to make private connections to my computer by tunneling through the Internet or other network."

    My Client Settings:
Type of VPN: Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP).
Data encryption: Optional encryption (connect even if no encryption).

If it matters, I have the loopback adapter installed. I do not have any custom host file entries. (Using the default HOSTS file.)
    Hope you can help.

It's been years since I set up a VPN so I can't really offer any insight. But I did find this pretty good tutorial that will hopefully provide some good guidance.

That's exactly how I set up my vpn with the exception of setting the client to use PPTP instead of automatic.

Solved: Restarting the computer fixed the issue. I don't know how I missed the most basic fix.

It is funny how we often miss the most obvious. Thanks for coming back and posting your followup.

Re: Windows 10 VPN Server Issue. (Connection interrupted)

I just had the same problem. BetaLeaf's restart theory is correct, however since I was pressed for time, I looked at what the restart would achieve and this prompted me to restart the Routing and Remote Access Service on the host server. Problem, solved!
