[SOLVED] windows 8.1 update error 8024a00

Find the standalone update packages for the update(s) that fail, and install using that. See if that fixes the issue.

[SOLVED] Unable to Install Windows Updates (Windows 7 Pro)

The issue is that KB2952664 has multiple revisions, and the version available for download from Microsoft doesn't match the one that SURT is throwing a fit over. The best option would be to scrub that update from the registry, and reinstall it cleanly. I don't know what process the staff here...

Window Update Endless Checking For Updates (Win7 x64 SP1)

As an FYI for the SysNative team, the issue of Windows 7 endlessly checking for updates can be resolved by installing KB3112343 from the standalone package. If that seems to run forever, install that update using DISM.

Update help please

I will defer to the SysNative team for that, as they may have an automation they can provide to do that. I'm much more accustomed to performing repairs by hand on Windows Update problem units. My guess is that the Component Based Servicing\Packages key got completely hosed, as all the errors...

Egads, that is an obscene amount of registry corruption. You may be better off just backing up your data and doing a clean install. The only other thing I can think of would be to see if there is a shadow copy of the Software hive that has an intact Component Based Servicing key, and try to...

In my experience, a 490 on incremental updates in Windows 7 is generally going to have a "Failed to resolve package" search result in CBS.log (not always, but most of the time).

[SOLVED] Erro 1392

In my experience, 1392 (0x570 hex) correlates to "File or Directory corrupt/unreadable". May want to run a chkdsk /r on this unit. I've also seen this happen to the System Reserved partition. CBS log should show where the corruption is.

How to Fix Windows Update Error Code 0x80073712

Actually, a good majority of 80073712 errors can be resolved, although there are certainly a bunch where the components hive is simply corrupt (or been truncated to 256KB in size, which I see a lot).

[SOLVED] 0x80073712 on SBS 2011; checksur log clean

This one will need the CBS.log uploaded immediately after a failed installation attempt. Components hive looks to be a normal size, but it was uploaded as a .REG file, which won't give any true indication if it can be properly mounted as a hive.

From your CBS log from SFC, it looks like all the default Windows shortcuts in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs (and their companion files in C:\Windows\WinSxS) are corrupt. Version information on them all appear to be from the Windows 10 rollup update 1511 package...

[SOLVED] Windows Update restart loop

Run Regedit, and navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update Expand that key, and look for a subkey called RebootRequired. If found, right-click on it, choose Export, save on the Desktop as Reboot.reg, then delete that...
