Before I do, is there any way to save my current configuration of msconfig? I have "customized" it quite a bit and would not like to loose it all. I co.uldn't find anything on the net regarding creating a backup of the msconfig settings Thx for any hint.

[SOLVED] MS16-001: Security update for IE11 (KB3124275) failed (bluescreen)

Thx for the hint. I repaired the file permissions, alas still no luck - the update still won't install. I have attached the log files of the update and the repair. Again, it's a .7z file disguised as .zip file. I've never before encountered an update as stubborn as this one ;)

Ok thx :) I have uploaded the two files. As CBS.log is huge, I have truncated everything before the last attempt to install the update - I hope that's ok (I still have the full log should you need it). P.S. The attachment is a 7z-file - you'll need to replace the extension .zip with .7z. A...

Ok, I'm back :) No bluescreens have occurred anymore, so far, but the update still won't install (Error Code 80070643). Thanks very much for any suggestions, but first have a great weekend!

Thx for the hint! I uninstalled AnyDVD (ironically a couple of days after Slysoft got closed) and restarted my PC. Unfortunately, the update still won't install (Error Code 80070643). It didn't cause a BSOD, though. Edit: I also tried exiting Kaspersky and then starting the update again, but to...

Hi jcgriff2 All right, that helped. I didn't find it at first as MyDocuments live on drive F: (which is where I looked). However, there is another documents folder on drive C: containing 4 folders, only, including the SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder :) Thanks for the hint! Well, I guess...
