oh bummer! how did that get there :/ I've removed it from the system! attached updated logs (it looks like it shows up as deleted in the latest logs). LMK if you see anything else unsavory in the logs.

Off I go! Will report back (worst case, from my mac, if i'm boot-looping again). In the meantime I found this article which I think answers my questions about the other directories: Should you delete files in the WinSXS directory? And what’s the deal with VSS?

Dobra dan softwaremaniac! I did as told. Ran another sfc + dism combo for extra credit but still get the same error. output included below. note that these files already existed, but i suspect there's something else where they get registered. I'm a linux person though so I'm only reasoning...
