New PC build - advice needed

Hi Will, I'm not going to try to answer most of this, but two thoughts I have: 1) The motherboard supports M.2. I would suggest switching the SSD to use M.2 rather than SATA. 2) Remember to add in some thermal paste to the order unless your nephew already has some.

Are you able to put your SSD in another computer or do you not have another M.2 (?) motherboard to test with? I'm sorry to hear you're having all these issues. I had similarly hard to track down hardware failure after a home build of mine a few years ago and it was very annoying.

I would uninstall ESET and/or any other security software you have installed and use Microsoft Defender / Windows Firewall instead.

Hi Stephen, Could you also upload C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log and Event Logs? It would be nice to see if any new device drivers were automatically installed for some reason or other over the last few days. Richard

Chrome plugins - is this a real Facebook ban cause?

[SOLVED] How do I get this processor heatsink off?

I eventually managed to solve this. In the end three of the four pins came out (and later went back in) perfectly but the bottom right one was a nightmare to get out and will still not sit properly on reinsertion. It made some clicks then jams at the wrong height. I think if I ever needed to get...

[SOLVED] How do I get this processor heatsink off?

It's completely stuck. I've turned all four pins 90 degrees, and two of them (after a bit of effort) came free but the remaining two seem to be stuck in the motherboard. I've tried pushing the pulling them, to the point the motherboard bends so much I am concerned it's going to break. I cannot...
