Hey, if You were wondering I'm back now... still can't seem to get the windows update to work ... I wonder if there's a troubleshooting guide of some sorts on MSDN about resolving missing assembly errors :)

Ok I'll reply with a .zip because the find results were like 1.7 megs uncompressed. (Btw my windows 7 install on the current computer is nearing 3 years now... from a windows standpoint it's like a dinosaur right :D) Thanks for bearing with me!

Hi, I don't think that 4088881 is even installed on my system: And got the same error while trying KB4103718 again. Hmm but yeah it is listed in CBS log... weird ... even worse there's like tons of entries about it in that file $ grep KB4088881 CBS.log | wc -l 6517 $ wc -l CBS.log 975030...
