OK ran a regular windows update found another 24 updates to install. Installed all successfully. Thanks again.

The rollup installed successfully and now rebooted. I'll now run the regular windows update to finish any other outstanding updates. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

Thank you. I chose update KB2985461 at random and it failed with the same error. I updated the logs to the same shared folder in google drive (appended the date to the file names to differentiate from the originals).

I came across this item from microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/i-got-an-error-code-from-windows-update I downloaded the file WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab from there and it's running now, will update when it completes.

We'll that didn't get very far. The first step is to install the April 2015 servicing stack, and that install failed with the same 800736B3 error. should I try any other updates? should I try to find the first failed update? it seems the first failed update was KB2977728, the update right...
