[SOLVED] Windows Update failures (and sfc and dism problems)

I followed the instructions on that page and then I was able to properly install the .msu file manually! After a reboot Windows Updates show I am up-to-date. Thank you for your help.

I double-clicked the .msu and it went through the installation only to tell me that the update didn't install. I've attached the CBS log file.

OK I'll download the update from here. Should I just double-click the .msu file or extract it and use one of the commands to install the cab file?

Yes, I am still in need of assistance. My Windows Update is still stuck trying to install KB3206632 with error 0x8e5e03fa. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. And thank you for following up on this (on Christmas Eve no less!).

I should have mentioned this before, but the Windows Update error that caused me to start looking into this was when it was trying to install KB3206632. Windows Update shows error code 0x8e5e03fa for this update. I used the get-windowsupdatelog powershell command to get a log file for Windows...

Hopefully this will be a quick fix this time... I noticed a failure installing the latest Windows Update. So I ran the sfc /scannow command which completed but indicated that it found corrupt files but was unable to fix. So then I ran the dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command and...

It looks like all updates have been installed successfully!!! I reboot my machine and everything looks good. Wow I can't believe this is working after all of this time. Thank you so much for your help.

OK, here's the CBS log. It looks like Windows Update went ahead and installed some updates for MS Office so I don't know if this includes the log data for the previous failures. I will follow your instructions and try this all again and let you know how that goes.

Quick update: just after my last post, Windows prompted me to reboot (looks like Windows Update is actually able to do something now which is progress!). However, during the reboot Windows showed the "installing updates don't power off your computer" and then it seemed to do a bunch of stuff...

OK I think I've finally got to the bottom of the source of all of these corrupted files! I had Windows tell me that my drive had errors and I need to run chkdsk. I ran it, and it fixed some errors. But it started to make me wonder so I downloaded some tools to check the status of my SSD and...
