That is so very odd! I can only imagine it was an MS update released that was quickly pulled and patched, but it did this in the meantime. Applied. Update reinstalled and reboot scheduled for 6 hours. Log attached.

Attached. Looks extremely common, but I am not sure if they only have to be expandable string for the kernel/system drivers, nor how this even went so pear shaped to start with! Thoughts?

Failed again, and appears the same as before; installs, reboots, fails, rolls back. Querying that registry key again shows that it's still of type REG_EXPAND_SZ, so that mustn't have been it. Fresh logs attached.

Headless so did not see it, and no dump file recorded for some reason. I just saw that it did not come back online (RMM agent not responding, NIC not in gigabit, etc), so told the customer to hard power cycle it. He said that tapping the power button turned it off immediately, then a few minutes...

Ah yeah I see. Missed that. Applied, rebooted, BSOD, rebooted again and applied update. Next reboot happening in 6 hours (maint Window)
