The old board was a ASRock 970de3....The new board is a ASROCK 990 FX Extreme4.....Strangely enough Windows didn't require reactivation

Update....Got another motherboard....Done some quick tests....seems to have solved the problem:thumbsup2:....now I can run prime95

If I had known this was going to happen I would have got a i5:banghead:, but by dropping support for the 8350 that will stop a lot of returns for a "bad" motherboard. Calling the 8350 a 125 watt chip is a bit dishonest as well, granted it's hard to determine the actual draw, however most reviews...

I'z bez so stuupid:banghead:.....The FX 8350 is not on the list of supported CPU's for my motherboard.....Although I could have sworn that it used to be:confused2:...Got another M-board ordered....

I removed the 8350, inspected closely, reinstalled....tested with AIDA64 exteme....failed in three passes:banghead:.... Ok installed the PII a known good chip (if a poor overclocker) ran AIDA64 extreme....failed in fifteen passes....prime 95 lasted longer, but ended in a blue...

Deleted and rebooted..... I found a different stress program AIDA64 extreme.....I started a test last night and it ran for over 5 hours, but I forgot about Patch Tuesday.:dance:Ever helpful my system rebooted, I'll try again while I'm at work today.....

Ok...tried the large FFTs Worker #7 never even started.... cores 5, 6, 8 error-ed out right away, followed by core 4 after five minutes.... Just had a crash while running firefox.....

Ok, I ran memtest86 v4.20 while I was at work.... it ran for 12hrs 32min (I stopped it) it made 5 passes (12 gig takes a while) 0 errors...... The ram was originally on a Biostar A770e3.....That board is in the box for #1 It doesn't support the AM3+ spec....#2 erratic sata ports.....But...

If you run the blend test it will crash right away....The small FFTs will run a little longer....Those are the only one's I have used ( I stopped once I got a crash report).... The ram is 2 sticks of 4 gig/ 2 sticks of 2 gig Mushkin silverline pc3 10666 1333 at stock settings....It's a carry...

I have just got a brand new FX 8350 processor:grin1:....Boots up fine....plays games just fine....works just fine:cool3:..... Until I tried to run Amd Overdrive, At stock clock running 8 cores, it would fail within 10 minutes or less...hardware failure error, or black screen, no dump...
