holy smokes, that actually worked! THANK YOU! While I still have your attention, cbs.log still does mention 1 error message there are some other lines that are marked as info, but also mention errors in their messages. Is this anything that needs taking care of?

I had already run windows update when you replied kb915597 successfully installed kb4516065 still errors out, with the same error number 80073701 it took me a minute to get the cbs.log file because some process has it locked eventually i just made a copy of the file and zipped that up instead

Hi PeterJ, Well this is interesting ... Under control panel -> programs and features -> installed updates I double checked to make sure it isnt listed there either, and it is not

Update: I just now saw this page on microsoft's support site, but to do what it is suggesting sounds like a lot of work and a lot of disk space being eaten up. Even if theres no way around the disk space, IF this is the solution that I would be stuck with, is there a way to automate this?
