[SOLVED] Is a 2½" hard drive really slightly larger?

I never have measured the dimensions of the hard drive, but the form factor standards ensure that available drives will fit in the bay, the screw holes will line up, and the standard cables and connections will plug in.

Windows Backup skipped C:\ because is it on corrupted drive C:\.

This happens when files system is corrupted and data is stored on bad sector which Chkdsk tries to recover the data.

Does Formatting my laptop remove all corrupted files?

Full format will write zeros to sectors to wipe data on the drive. A quick format allows you to overwrite any files on the drive, but it does not fully erase them; with the right software, the old files could be recovered.
