The update with dism went through very quickly! Then the laptop restarted twice. I then went to check WU again. The 6 WU updates that were there in my screenshot (above) were still there, so I tried installing them. 5 succeeded, including the rollup I'd been having trouble with; but 1 failed...

There are now more updates showing - an the 2018-10 Rollup has been replaced with the 2018-11 Rollup. I've not installed any of them yet. Thanks very much for looking into this.

Windows Update has succeeded in installing the hotfix kb947821 and the security update kb2813347, but I'm not going to re-try the 2018-10 rollup, which is still waiting.
